What’s involved?

  • Education about your child’s condition and how physiotherapy can help

  • Direct hands-on physiotherapy techniques such as positioning, stretches or strengthening exercises

  • Activities or exercises to do at home may be practised to help your child’s progress

  • Splints, plasters or equipment may also be needed as part of your child’s physiotherapy treatment.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not necessary to access Baby Wise Physiotherapy services. Physiotherapists are a regulated profession of first contact practitioners in Australia, so a doctor’s referral is not essential but we prefer to work in partnership with your doctor and welcome a referral if you have one.

If a health professional has provided a referral, please advise us so that it can be reviewed at or prior to the first consultation.

At your physiotherapy appointment, you may be asked to go and see your doctor to discuss for further tests for your child or to get a referral to see a Paediatrician, another health professional or a specialist clinic at one of the Children’s Hospitals in Sydney.
